Intralogistics enabled by Autonomous Vehicles Cooperating with Operators and Robots
These are two projects ILAADR – Internal Logistics with Automated Autonomous Delivery and Replenishment and ILEVATOR – intraLogistics Enabled by autonomous Vehicles cooperATing with Operators and Robots both funded by EIT Digital.
The project iLAADR focuses on the logistics and delivery of material to the line side in a complex manufacturing process (e.g. assembly for automotive). The goal is to develop autonomous solutions for inbound logistics. These include, amongst others, a low-cost network of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), partly equipped with robot manipulators and meant for autonomous delivery of material, worker safety in the vicinity of the robotic systems, as well as capabilities for data analysis, planning and execution of transport processes.
iLEVATOR is developing a modular and plug-and-play platform for factories’ intralogistics. It increases the utilization rate of warehouse and logistic systems by coordinating autonomous vehicles, robots and human operators.
Within these projects the ES unit developed a Temporal Planning for orchestrating a fleet of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) working on intra-logistics kitting tasks in a production-line factory. In this case the ES unit adapted state of the art techniques for strong temporal planning with uncontrollable durations complemented with a flexible executor to deploy commands to the different AGVs.
